Thank you very much for your continued support of COVER Corporation (hereinafter "COVER Corp."), hololive production, and especially our talents.
At COVER Corp., we have introduced numerous measures to address rights infringements, including instances of slander and defamation (hereinafter "rights infringements").
Our teams working in (legal) defamation prevention, stream moderation, and inquiry/report management collaborate closely to collect information from fans, talents, employees, and other sources and use it to handle defamation cases.
We would like to provide an update on the rights infringement prevention measures we have taken in FY 2025, from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026.
At COVER Corp., protecting the dignity and ensuring the safety of our affiliated talents and employees is one of our utmost priorities, so any conduct that infringes on such rights, including defamation, the spreading of unfounded information, or intimidation, will not be tolerated. We will continue to implement comprehensive legal measures in all cases of rights infringement, regardless of the background or circumstances.
If a case is deemed an instance of rights infringement, not only may the perpetrator be required to pay large sums in damages, but criminal charges may also be filed, leading to an immediate loss of social standing, professional credibility, and basic everyday privileges.
Many perpetrators only realize the gravity of their actions once legal action has been taken.
Therefore, we urge anyone considering posting on social media or any other platform to consider the impact their actions may have on others carefully and to ensure that opinions and/or information are shared responsibly.
We reiterate once again that any ill intent that infringes on the rights of COVER Corp. talents will not be taken lightly, and we remain committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment where talents can carry out their activities and fans can support them without concern.
Measures Regarding Infringements of Rights
No. of cases where legal action was taken (including lawsuits and criminal cases): 149
No. of instances where posts were deleted (X, YouTube, and TikTok): 1,411
1. Rights infringement measures regarding posts on social media and other message boards
We are filing requests for the disclosure of sender information (hereinafter "disclosure requests") regarding, in particular, malicious posts on X, YouTube, and other social media services, as well as on anonymous message boards and content-aggregation websites.
There are still a number of cases of rights infringements for which we cannot disclose details at present due to ongoing disclosure requests and/or settlement negotiations, but we will remain resolute in our handling of these situations.
In addition to disclosure requests, we are filing reports with the respective platforms and requesting the deletion of offending posts and accounts regarding rights infringements.
2. Overseas measures
There are also several cases in which we have filed lawsuits in courts outside Japan's jurisdiction after disclosure requests have been made, and have rigorously pursued legal accountability. We will continue to work closely with local authorities in order to achieve appropriate outcomes.
3. Closure of malicious content-aggregation websites
We are ensuring that the administrators of malicious content-aggregation websites that consistently repost and disseminate defamatory information/material regarding COVER-affiliated talents posted on anonymous message boards are identified, and that the websites themselves are shut down, by making disclosure requests. We have successfully seen the closure of multiple malicious content-aggregation websites during FY 2025.
4. Measures preventing the improper use of content
In multiple cases of malicious rights infringements, where content belonging to COVER Corp. and/or its affiliated talents has been improperly used for personal monetary gain, COVER Corp. has not only pursued civil liability but also cooperated with the authorities, resulting in the perpetrator's arrest.
5. Cooperating with the authorities
In situations where the lives or well-being of COVER Corp.-affiliated talents, employees, business partners, or other related parties are at risk, we ensure we contact the relevant authorities, provide any necessary information, and consult with the police immediately. Measures, such as increased patrols or tightened security, are also implemented as necessary to safeguard COVER Corp.-affiliated talents and/or employees, and we cooperate closely with law enforcement agencies and file criminal charges when particularly malicious posts, such as those containing death threats or blackmail, are identified.
